Design of Hyundai India's MPV "finalized", to launch next year - Report
Will be offered with petrol and diesel engines.
HMIL (Hyundai Motor India Ltd.) chief coordinator (sales & marketing) Y J Ahn, told the Times Of India in a recent interview that the design and "other aspects" of the brand's MPV was "finalized". Mr. Ahn said that the MPV was slated to have its market launch next year.
Apart from catering to the private passenger market, the MPV would also target taxi and fleet operators, the official hinted. He termed HMIL's absence in the MPV segment as 'jarring'.
Previous reports have stated that the MPV in question is codenamed 'IP', and that it will be powered by petrol and diesel engines, with manual and automatic transmissions on offer. However, the platform of this MPV remains a big question mark. For reference, the recently launched Creta compact SUV rides on a modified version of the Elantra's platform.

When launched, the MPV will take on the likes of the Maruti Ertiga, Honda Mobilio, Renault Lodgy and the Toyota Innova, which continues its dominance in this segment. In this segment, Honda Cars India does not offer the Mobilio for fleet or taxi sales, whereas Renault India have started the initial billing of the Lodgy for the fleet market.
