Hyundai is working on a new sub-4 metre SUV based on the Hyundai Carlino concept from the 2016 Auto Expo, which is internally known as the Hyundai Qxi. According to a new report from The Economic Times, the company will offer its new baby SUV with a new turbocharged engine.

The Hyundai Qxi will employ a 1.0-litre T-GDi petrol engine.

Last year, Hyundai said that it is working on introducing a number of new technologies in India, including an automated manual transmission and a turbocharged petrol engine. The Hyundai AH2 is said to debut the former, while the Hyundai Qxi is likely to be the first product to employ the latter. The report says that the new engine in question has a displacement of 1.0-litre. It should feature direct injection.

The Hyundai Qxi will arrive as the production version of the Hyundai Carlino concept that debuted at Auto Expo 2016. Along with a 1.0-litre T-GDi petrol engine, the sub-4 metre SUV is expected to get a 1.4-litre U2 CRDi diesel engine as well.

The Hyundai Qxi will arrive as the production version of the Hyundai Carlino concept.
