The India-bound 2019 Audi Q7 (facelift) has been displayed at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show. It was scheduled to be launched in the European markets in mid-September.
The facelifted Audi Q7 features a refreshed design and additional features, including the electrified tech on the engine, in tandem with rest of the latest Audi SUVs. The redesigned front-end comprises new, octagon-shaped Singleframe comprising six upright slats, new two-part side air inlets, new, HD Matrix LED headlights with Audi laser light. It is inspired by that of the Audi Q8. The biggest change at the rear is the sleeker LED tail lamps. The bumpers also are new and aimed at enhancing the rugged styling.
The interior of the 2019 Audi Q7 is refreshingly new and more opulent. The major changes here are the dual-touchscreen Audi MMI infotainment system that has resulted in an even more minimalistic centre console and a new dashboard. The new cabin looks nearly identical to that of the aforementioned SUV-Coupe.
The 2019 Audi Q7 is 5,063 mm long, 1,970 mm wide and 1,741 mm tall. It is 11 mm longer than the old Audi Q7. Unlike the old Audi Q7, the new Audi Q7 features 48-volt mild-hybrid technology, that too as standard. This technology can reduce fuel consumption by up to 0.7 litress/100 km. The new model was announced to be available with two diesel engines at launch in Europe, with a petrol engine following shortly after, and then, there will be a plug-in hybrid variant.
The first diesel engine is a 3.0-litre six-cylinder unit producing 170 kW (231 PS) and 500 Nm of torque. The second diesel engine is a 3.0-litre six-cylinder unit good for 210 kW (286 PS) and 600 Nm of torque. The 48V mild-hybrid system assisting these engines can recover up to 8 kW of power and send it to the battery. On the taking the foot off the accelerator between 55 and 160 km/h, the SUV recuperates energy, coasts for up to 40 seconds using solely battery power. The BAS, which is its central component, restarts the engine when the accelerator is depressed and does so faster and swifter than a conventional starter.
