At the 2018 Thai Motor Expo, there were several dozen motorcycles on display, some of which are heading to the Indian market. Benelli India had previously confirmed that the Benelli TRK 502 adventure tourer range would soon arrive in India although the Chinese owned Italian brand did not mention any timeline. The announcement was made on the sidelines of the company’s partnership announcement with Hyderabad-based Mahavir Group. Benelli and Mahavir Group would commence assembly of CKD products at a new plant on the outskirts of Hyderabad.
The road-biased TRK 502 features alloy wheels in 17-inch combination on both ends. The Benelli TRK 502X, which is designed to take the unbeaten path, comes with wire-spoke wheels that are wrapped in off-road spec tyres. Further enhancing the X badge model’s off-roading capabilities is a 19-inch front wheel.
The Benelli TRK 502 duo use the same engine in the exact state tune. Thus, the 499.6 cc, liquid-cooled, 8-valve, parallel twin-cylinder engine with fuel injection comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox and delivers 46 bhp of maximum power at 8,500 rpm and 45 Nm of peak torque at 5,000 rpm.
Both variants use upside-down forks at the front and a preload and rebound adjustable mono-shock at the back. Stopping power comes from 320 mm twin front discs with a two-piston calliper at the front and 260 mm single disc at the rear with single-piston calliper. Dual-channel ABS comes as standard.
The 20-litre fuel tank, along with a claimed economy of 25.64 km/l, should let you travel for a little over 500 km before you need to refuel. Standard features include a semi-digital instrument cluster and a tall windshield, while the optional accessories would comprise saddle stays, luggage panniers and a top box case with rear parcel rack.

Apart from the TRK502 duo, Benelli also plans to introduce the Imperiale 400 and 530 in the Indian market. The company will make a strong comeback here by adding as many as 10 to 12 new bikes across three segments – city riding, cruising and adventure riding. To attract customers, Benelli announced a 34% reduction in prices of its after-sales services. Moreover, the brand has also increased the service intervals of its products from 4,000 km/4 months to 6,000 km/6 months.
