Classic Legends, a subsidiary of the Mahindra & Mahindra Group, launched their third motorcycle in the Indian market, the Perak bobber, earlier this month. The two-wheeler brand will start the booking process in January next year while the deliveries are likely to commence from April 2020. At the launch event, the company officials confirmed that the test rides for the motorcycle will start in the cities where BS-VI fuel is available.

In latest updates, Rushlane claims that the test rides for the Jawa Perak bobber have started in Mumbai – Global Jawa, Andheri West. Similarly, other dealerships should also start the test rides soon.

Launched at an ex-showroom price tag of INR 1,94,500*, the new Jawa Perak bobber is the first BS-VI compliant motorcycle from Classic Legends. The Perak is also the most powerful motorcycle to arrive from the Mahindra & Mahindra subsidiary. Mechanical specifications on the newly launched Perak bobber include a 334 cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, DOHC motor that pumps out 30.4 PS/30 bhp of maximum power and a peak torque of 31 Nm. The engine employs a six-speed gearbox.

Hardware specifications include conventional telescopic forks at the front and a mono-shock at the back to perform the shock absorption tasks. Unlike the Jawa Classic and the Forty-two, the Perak is only available in dual-channel ABS guise. The anchoring setup comprises disc brakes on both wheels.

The retro-styling of the Perak is complemented by a stealthy look, and the bobber features a matte-black finish to the tank, wheels, engine and rest of the body panels. Golden stripes across the bodywork add a nice contrast to the motorcycle. Typical bobber-style features include a rider-only seat with no provision to add a pillion setup.

The Perak bobber will compete against the likes of Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350/500 and the Benelli Imperiale 400 in the Indian market. As mentioned in the tech-spec comparison, the Jawa product has a clear performance advantage over its rivals. However, it retails at a premium price tag than the competition.
