Kawasaki Z900, Kawasaki Z1000 - Thai Motor Expo Live

Apart from the Kawasaki Z650, Kawasaki has showcased two bigger naked motorcycles at the Thai Motor Expo - the new Kawasaki Z900 and Kawasaki Z1000. While the former is a replacement of the Z800, the latter is their naked flagship.

Kawasaki Z900

The Kawasaki Z900 is a rider focused middleweight supernaked aiming to bridge the gap between high power output and handling finesse. The tubular trellis frame houses a 948 cc liquid cooled, inline four-cylinder mill producing 125 PS of maximum power at 9,500 rpm and 98.6 Nm of peak torque at 7,700 rpm. The first five cogs have short gearing while the 6th cog is overdrive.

The bike is suspended over 41 mm upside-down front forks with adjustable preload and rebound while the rear gets a horizontal back-link mono shock with similar levels of adjustability. The Kawasaki Z900 weighs 210.5 kg and has a seat height of 794 mm. Brakes have been sourced from Nissin. Front wheel gets dual semi-floating 300 mm petal disc with dual opposed 4 piston callipers while the rear gets a single 250 mm petal unit with a single piston calliper. ABS is standard.

Kawasaki Z1000

The Kawasaki Z1000 has a Sugomi inspired aggressive design. The twin tube aluminium frame houses a 1,043 cc inline four cylinder, liquid-cooled mill churning out 142 PS of maximum power at 10,000 rpm and 111 Nm of peak torque at 7,300 rpm. The bike weighs 221 kg and has a seat height of 815 mm. The Kawasaki Z1000 also gets an economical riding indicator.

The Kawasaki Z1000 is suspended by 41 mm inverted forks with rebound damping and spring preload adjustability in the front and a horizontal back-link gas charged mono shock in the rear with similar levels of adjustability. Front brakes include dual semi-floating 310 mm petal unit with dual radially mounted monobloc opposed 4 piston callipers while rear gets a single 250 mm petal disc with a single piston calliper.
