Along with the KTM Duke 390, KTM RC 390, KTM 1090 Adventure R, KTM 1290 Super Adventure R and KTM 1290 Super Adventure T, KTM has showcased the 2017 KTM Super Duke R. Introduced first at EICMA 2016, the new 1290 Super Duke R is nicknamed by KTM as "The Beast 2.0".
The LED headlamp and daytime running lights follow the design seen in the flagship Adventure models. The body looks sharper while the air intakes are new. The handlebar has been lowered and moved further forward. The Motorcycle Stability Control gains lean angle sensing ABS and a Supermoto mode wherein ABS can be switched off in the rear wheel.
The bike is suspended over new 48 mm upside down front forks by WP and a mono shock in the rear by WP with a heavier spring. The KTM 1290 Super Duke R can be fitted with a performance pack which adds a quickshifter, Motor Slip Regulation system and smartphone connectivity. A track centric option is also available which allows the rider to turn off wheelie control, traction control slip adjust , but adds launch control.
Powering the KTM 1290 Super Duke R is a 1,301 cc V-twin, liquid cooled mill with 56 mm throttle bodies. Coupled with a 6 speed gearbox and slipper clutch, the engine is good for producing 177 PS of maximum power at 9,750 rpm. That is a jump by 7 PS.
The 2017 KTM 1290 Super Duke R is priced at USD 17,999.
