While KTM aficionados have been waiting for several new motorcycles to join the company’s India portfolio, we are yet to hear an official announcement on the same. The list of upcoming KTM motorcycles that are expected to arrive in the Indian market includes the RC125, 390 Adventure and the 790 Duke.

The KTM 390 Adventure will debut at the 2018 EICMA motorcycle show before it is launched in the Indian market.

In spite of the lack of any official announcement, a report from Autocar India claims that KTM may introduce the 390 Adventure in the Indian market in November this year. The report adds that the 390 Adventure will arrive in India post its debut at the 2019 EICMA motorcycle show. The 390 Adventure will reportedly come alongside the Husqvarna range of motorcycles in the Indian market.

Regular followers would have read our report from January this year where we learnt from our sources that the KTM 390 Adventure would arrive in the Indian market in the second half of 2019. The 390 Adventure is likely to carry a premium of INR 30,000-40,000 over the 390 Duke. Expect the adventure tourer to arrive in the INR 2.8-3.0 lakh* price range. In comparison, its closest rival, the BMW G 310 GS retails at INR 3.49 lakh* motorcycle.

The 390 Adventure will most likely arrive with several optional accessories that will offer better-touring prowess to the bike. The test mules of the motorcycle were spotted with saddlebags, panniers and top-box in the past. The test mules were seen with alloy wheels although we may see wire-spoke wheels as optional extras. The motorcycle will use a 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheel combination to strike a balance between on- and off-road riding. Other features on the upcoming bike will include trellis frame with a bolted sub-frame, full LED lighting (blinkers, tail light and headlamp) and a TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity to control incoming calls and music. The 390 Adventure may see the addition of turn-by-turn navigation system to the TFT display.

The 390 Adventure will share its mechanical specifications with the 390 Duke. The motorcycle will arrive with Euro-V/BS-VI emission compliance, and thus, we may see slightly different performance numbers. The Euro-IV/BS-IV compliant 390 Duke draws 43.5 hp of peak power at 9,500 rpm and 35 Nm of max torque at 7,250 rpm from its 373.2 cc single-cylinder, DOHC, 4-Valve, liquid-cooled engine.

The only direct rival to the KTM 390 Adventure in the Indian market is the BMW G 310 GS. The Austrian motorcycle is expected to arrive at a more competitive price tag than the BMW G 310 GS.
