KTM 390 Adventure with luggage mounts spotted up close

As KTM continues testing the 390 Adventure in India, a test mule has been spotted again, this time somewhere near Pune. The new spy shots show it equipped with 390 Duke-style instrument console and switchgear as well as the mounts for the top box and panniers.

The new spy shots of the KTM 390 Adventure reveal the luggage mounts for optional accessories like a top box and panniers.

The top box and pannier mounts would most likely be sold as optional accessories under the Powerparts tag. The pannier mounts could also be used as saddle stays for soft luggage bags.

KTM will most likely offer two variants of the 390 Adventure – tourer and off-roader. The touring version would feature alloy wheels while the off-road-spec model would come equipped with the more rugged, wire-spoke wheels. KTM uses a similar strategy with its bigger adventure tourer range. Expect the touring spec model to be christened 390 Adventure while the off-road focused version would be called the 390 Adventure R. Both models would ride on 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels. The test mule seen in India continues to use alloy wheels, while those spotted in Europe were equipped with wire-spoke wheels.

Like the new-generation KTM 390 Duke, the KTM 390 Adventure would feature a trellis frame with a bolted sub-frame. Feature list would include full LED lighting, windscreen and a fully-digital display among others. The KTM My Ride infotainment system, as in the 390 Duke, would offer smartphone integration via Bluetooth to access several functions related to calls, messages and music. It could offer turn-by-turn navigation also in the 390 Adventure.

The 390 Adventure would share the 373.2 cc, single-cylinder, DOHC, 4-Valve, liquid-cooled engine with the 390 Duke. This motor is tuned to deliver 43.5 hp at 9,500 RPM and 35 Nm of peak torque at 7,250 rpm on the naked roadster. The adventure model may c0me with a revised gear ratio and a different engine map for better low-end power. The six-speed gearbox, like in the 390 Duke, would feature a slip/assist clutch.

The top box (pictured) and pannier mount would most likely be offered as optional accessories. All accessories would be sold via KTM dealerships under the Powerparts tag.

The 390 Duke comes with a Super Moto mode that turns off the ABS at the rear wheel, and the same feature would be seen on the 390 Adventure. The Austrian adventure model would compete against the likes of Royal Enfield Himalayan and the BMW G 310 GS. KTM has introduced its products at competitive prices in the past, and the same can be expected for the 390 Adventure. The company is expected to price it under INR 3 lakh (ex-showroom).
