KTM 790 Adventure Indian launch to happen next year - Report
KTM India has just started the deliveries of its highest displacement model in our market, the 790 Duke. Now, Autocar India claims that its adventure-spec sibling, the 790 Adventure, will reach our shores in 2020. The source report further adds that the 790 Adventure, like the 790 Duke, will arrive in our market via the CKD route.

The KTM 790 Adventure is already available internationally. A unit of the middleweight adventure tourer was spotted in India (in New Delhi) earlier this year, although it was most likely a private-owned unit on an adventure trip in which India was part of its route.
Unlike the 790 Duke, which is currently available in a single guise, the 790 Adventure is offered in two versions – Standard and R. KTM had also announced a limited edition 790 Adventure R Rally in June this year.
All variants have the same engine specifications. The 790 Adventure is the second product to feature the company’s first parallel twin-cylinder motor, a 799 cc parallel twin-cylinder, liquid-cooled, 8-valve LC8c mill that pumps out 94 hp of max power and 88 Nm of peak torque. In comparison, the 790 Duke draws 105 hp and 87 Nm. The six-speed transmission this engine is linked to benefits from with assist and a slipper clutch. Quickshifter+ comes standard on the R variant and it is available as an option on the base variant.
The premium hardware specifications on the 790 Adventure R also include fully adjustable WP XPLOR 48mm forks and WP Apex PDS shock absorber at the front and back respectively. The standard version uses WP APEX 43 mm front forks.
The electronic aids on the motorcycle include ride-by-wire throttle, multiple riding modes, traction control and switchable ABS. The R variant benefits from a Rally mode. Cruise control is available as an option.
The India-bound model will arrive with a BS-VI mill (which will be equivalent to Euro-V norms). We expect to see the Euro-V compliant model at this year’s EICMA motorcycle show.

A relatively bigger model (890) of the Adventure range is expected to be launched in the near future internationally. The relatively bigger variant of the middleweight adventure range will compete with the Ducati Multistrada 950 and the Triumph Tiger 900. The feature list of the 890 Adventure could feature cross-spoke wheels for the convenience of tubeless tyres. The upcoming Triumph Tiger 900 XC will get cross-spoke design. The Ducati Multistrada 950 (with Enduro Pack) and the BMW F 850 GS benefit from the feature. The 790 Adventure and the 790 Adventure R come with tube tyres.
