Below is what KTM Industries announced in a press release:
A co-operation was signed and both partners see this as a starting point for a bright future of the international well-known brand GasGas. New models will be developed alongside the Trial and Enduro bikes of GasGas. As part of the Joint Venture the production of GasGas products and Torrot electric vehicles will be continued in Girona/Spain... It is intended that GasGas will be added, alongside KTM and Husqvarna Motorcycles & e-Bikes as third brand to the strong sales network of the KTM Industries group. The Deal is subject to antitrust authorities’ approval.
The collaboration will also yield a new range of motorcycles. The possibility of KTM-GasGas developed products coming to our market is very low. Do note that KTM is already working with Bajaj Auto for developing electric bikes. The Indo-Austrian partnership will reportedly launch performance electric two-wheelers by 2022. The co-developed platform will support various product variants under both brands. Production of the electric series will begin by 2022 at Bajaj’s production location in Pune.
In other updates, KTM will concentrate on the mid (200-390) segment portfolio in the Indian market over the next year. The company will introduce updated and new models in the 200-375 cc displacement segment. The list will comprise the updated Duke series and the RC range along with the new 390 Adventure and the Husqvarna 401 twins. The new KTM 390 Adventure will most likely debut at the 2019 EICMA motorcycle show in Italy in 5-10 November this year.
In the middleweight segment, KTM will introduce up to four new products that will arrive with the 890 badge. The KTM 890 series will include the 890 Duke, 890 Adventure/Adventure R, 890 Supermoto (890 SMC R?) and the 890 SMT/GT.
