Borrows the engine from the KTM Duke 200.
The KTM RC200 fully faired sportsbike has been launched in India today at INR 1.6 lakhs (ex-showroom, New Delhi) alongside the RC390.
Design wise, the RC200 is pretty much similar to that of the RC390. The visual differences come in the form of the body decals and MRF tyres (the RC390 employs Metzeler tyres).
Powering the RC200 is a familiar 200 cc single-cylinder motor from the Duke 200. The engine is paired to a 6-speed gearbox to develop 24.64 bhp and 19.2 Nm of torque. With a kerb weight of just 154 kg, the track-bred RC200 boasts of a power-to-weight ratio of 159.7 bhp/tonne.
The equipment list includes dual LED daytime running lights on the beak, twin headlamps, fully digital instrument console and split seats. The bike is equipped with inverted telescopic front suspension and a rear mono suspension, both from supplier WP. The decelerating power is provided by single disc at either ends but no ABS is on offer.
Compared to its naked sibling, the RC200 has a reduced rake angle and a shorter wheelbase. The changes are said to have enhanced the handling.
The KTM RC200 has no direct rivals but it would challenge the Honda CBR 250R. Bookings start tomorrow (September 10).
