IAB Report - KTM RC390 and RC200 have varied waiting periods across the country

The KTM RC390 and RC200 are inarguably the most anticipated launches in the Indian two wheeler market this year. The duo which were launched last month with mouth watering price tags, but only a handful of them have hit the roads as dealers await stock from the company.

The KTM RC390 enjoys more demand than the RC200.

Indian Autos Blog learns from some KTM dealers that the bookings for the fully faired sportsbike have received excellent response from the customers with the bigger motorcycle enjoying significantly more demand, notwithstanding a premium of INR 45,000 compared to its smaller sibling.

According to some dealers in the southern region of the country, the first deliveries of the twins have already commenced and a fresh stock is expected to arrive later this month. These dealers also say that the bikes have an average waiting period of 1.5 months if booked now.

However, most showrooms across the country have not commenced deliveries yet and a few dealers reveal that the first lot of RC390 and RC200 will be handed over to the customers towards the end of this month and the waiting period for new orders range from a fortnight to two months depending on the city.

The KTM RC200 gets MRF tyres and non-ABS brakes to lower the cost.

The KTM RC390 is priced at INR 2.05 lakhs while the RC200 retails at INR 1.6 lakhs (both prices are ex-showroom Delhi). The more expensive RC390 offers higher power, ABS braking and superior Metzeler tyres (RC200 is shod with MRF rubber).

The RC390's 373.2 cc motor pumps out 42.9 bhp and 35 Nm of torque while the RC200's 200 cc engine puts out 24.64 bhp and 19.2 Nm of torque. A 6-speed gearbox is standard across the models.
