Lamborghini's first hybrid supercar.
The Lamborghini Asterion LPI 910-4 (concept car) has been revealed at the VW Group Night in Paris ahead of its public premiere at 2014 Paris Motor Show on October 2.
First the name - LP stands for longitudinal posterior or mid-engined supercar; 910 is the horsepower output of the car; 4 connotes all-wheel drive; Asterion is a minotaur (half man-half bull character from Greek mythology); and the letter I that stands for "Ibrido" (hybrid).
Lamborghini's first hybrid supercar is a plug-in hybrid that has a 50 km range on pure electricity. The powertrain combines a 5.2-liter V10 engine with three electric motors. Generating 610 hp and 300 hp respectively, the combined output stands at 910 hp.
Driven via a seven-speed DSG, the car travels from 0-100 km/h in three seconds flat and onward to a top speed of 320 km/h. It is drivable in three modes - pure electric, hybrid power or pure engine power.
Somewhat reminiscent of the Miura, the car is two-seater that stands on 21-inch rims, and is appointed with an interior made of aluminium, carbon fiber and titanium. A tablet screen controls the infotainment, GPS navigation and the climate control.
