Mahindra e-KUV100 to be launched in about 6 months - Report
Dr. Pawan Goenka, Managing Director, Mahindra & Mahindra, had announced last year that the e-KUV100 will reach showrooms in mid-2019. At the 2019 Geneva Motor Show yesterday, he said that the launch will take place in about six months, as per a report from PTI.
The Mahindra e-KUV100 was introduced at the Auto Expo 2018. Until dedicated EVs start making sense in terms of volume, Mahindra will continue converting existing ICE-powered vehicles to EVs, and the e-KUV100 is one of those models. While one may argue that it’s just a raised hatchback, the company boasts that it’s India’s first electric SUV.
The Mahindra e-KUV100 uses a 30 kW (40.79 PS) electric motor powered by a Lithium-ion battery pack that provides a range of over 140 km. Fast charging is optional, and it can allow the battery to be charged to 80% in less than an hour.
Mahindra says that the future is not only electric but also connected, and rightly so. It has equipped the e-KUV100 with features like cabin pre-cooling, location tracking, remote diagnostics and more. The car also monitors the driving pattern.

A year after the e-KUV100, Mahindra will launch the pure electric XUV300 (codename: S210). Below are Goenka's words about the EV launch plans:
In the short run we are converting our current vehicles to EVs. So we already have e-Verito and we will be launching e-KUV in about six months time and one year after that we will launch electric XUV300. Post that, we are looking at doing platform ground up for electric vehicles.
