Mahindra Gusto 125 under development, launch this year - Report
Engine could be an all-new unit, or borrowed from Rodeo.
IndianCarsBikes says in a report that Mahindra 2 Wheelers are working on a more powerful version of their newly-launched 110 cc scooter, the Mahindra Gusto. The Indian manufacturer is working on a 125 cc version of the scooter, and a launch is expected to take place by the end of this year.
The report does not state if the 125 cc engine will be borrowed from other scooters such as the Rodeo or Duro, or if it will be a newly-developed unit. However, power and torque outputs are expected in the region of 10 PS and 10 Nm respectively. A CVT gearbox will be used on the scooter.
To differentiate itself from the 110 cc Gusto, the Gusto 125 would get design changes on the front apron, a mildly redesigned rear, optional alloy wheels and a front disc brake. Features that are seen on the Gusto 110 like the flip key, find me and follow me headlight and the height-adjustable seat are expected to be carried over to the Gusto 125.
Scooters occupy about 28 percent of the two-wheeler market in India, and thanks to their ease of use and acceptance in crowded cities, industry analysts expect their share to grow to about 30 percent by the end of this year.
