Maruti Celerio Cross - Auto Expo 2016
In a clue that the country's largest passenger car manufacturer would wish to join the Cross bandwagon, Maruti Suzuki showcased a kitted up version of the Maruti Celerio at the ongoing Auto Expo 2016.
Launched at the previous edition of the Auto Expo in 2014, the Celerio hatchback has been successful enough to encourage the company to spin off more versions. The enriched Celerio, shown previously at the 2014 Paris Motor Show features a body kit, matte-finish grille, black body cladding on the side skirts, rear roof spoiler, and twin six-spoke alloy wheels.
The Celerio Cross is powered by the same 1.0-liter petrol edition that is now matched to either a five-speed manual or a CVT gearbox. Subtle changes include black outside rear view mirrors as opposed to the body-coloured mirrors on offer with the regular version of the hatchback, and contrast red inserts and stitching on the seat and steering wheel.
The Maruti Celerio Cross will, if and when launched, compete with the VW Polo Cross, Toyota Etios Cross etc.
