Report - Maruti Ciaz completes trial production at Manesar; SX4 production stopped
Maruti-Suzuki have reportedly completed trial production of the upcoming Maruti Ciaz at their Manesar facility in Haryana, India, according to the Indian Express. The market launch of the Ciaz will take place ahead of the festive season, most probably in July-August.
Production of the Ciaz's predecessor, the SX4, has come to a halt according to the newspaper. The carmaker is now preparing itself for the launch of the Ciaz it seems.
A pre-production Ciaz was revealed last month at the Beijing Motor Show, while the production ready sedan was spied yesterday in China. The Ciaz will launch with a petrol and diesel engine in India. The diesel variant will be powered by Fiat's 1.3-liter Multijet engine in the 90 PS spec, while the petrol will source its power from a 1.4-liter K-Series engine also seen in the Ertiga.
The Ciaz will compete with sedans like the Hyundai Verna, VW Vento, Fiat Linea and the new Honda City, the Honda being the segment leader. As a result, Maruti is expected to offer the Ciaz with well appointed interiors and features, along with a competitive price tag.
