Spied - Clear images of the Suzuki Alivio (Maruti Ciaz); Indian launch by festive season
These are clear spyshots of the Suzuki Alivio from China, where the sedan is expected to launch by the end of this year. While the car will be called Alivio in China, it will launch as the Maruti Ciaz in India very soon.
As these images show, the production Ciaz remains true to the concept shown at the Auto Expo this year. Design elements at the front include flared headlights and a rectangular chrome grille. Towards the side, the length of the car indicates that it could be longer than its segment rivals (Honda City and Hyundai Verna), while the rear section sports similar taillights as the new Honda City.
Interior spyshots of the car show that it will share a few key components such as the steering wheel and indicator/wiper stalks with other Maruti cars like the Swift/Dzire/Ertiga.
The Ciaz will launch in India by the festive season (before September this year) with petrol and diesel engines. Going by reports, the petrol engine could be the 1.4-liter four-cylinder from the Ertiga, while the diesel engine would be the 1.3-liter Fiat Multijet. The petrol will come with manual and CVT gearbox options, but the diesel will get only a manual option.
