Report - Maruti Suzuki expects dealers to sell 15% more this fiscal
In its annual dealer meeting in Italy, Maruti Suzuki has demanded of its dealers to sell 15 percent more vehicles in this fiscal.
A report on The Financial Express states that the largest passenger car manufacturer in India wants to increase its market share by 3 percent to 45 percent. The demand comes at a time when Maruti a 5-6 percent growth forecast during the announcement of Q4 2014 results.
Maruti's sales call arises out of the fact that it has 3 all-new models lined up for a launch in 2014. First up would be the Ciaz, to take on the likes of the Honda City and the Hyundai Verna. Next is the light commercial vehicle that is based on the Suzuki Carry, codenamed the Y9T. The Y9T should take on the dominating Tata Ace and the Ashok Leyland Dost.
The third product is yet unknown, but the report says that this could be the S-Cross crossover/compact SUV that was showcased at the Auto Expo 2014. In contrast, 2014 saw the company launching just one new product - the Maruti Celerio.
The ever-popular Maruti Swift, Swift Dzire and Alto are expected to get a facelift or a model refresh in 2014.
In the last fiscal, Maruti's sales grew by just 0.25 percent to 10.53 lakh units.
