Maruti Ritz facelift spotted again in India - Is it a Diwali release?

Team-BHP.com member Revved_up has posted images of the Maruti Ritz facelift, which may have been captured in Gurgaon. He spotted a petrol AT version of the Ritz, which was in the RHD spec.

There is more than one reason to believe that this is for the Indian market.

Earlier this year, a senior Maruti official signaled that the only way to stay competitive was to keep upgrading products. The Ritz is not only Maruti's second best selling car in the B+ segment, but also ahead of all other rivals. With production ramp up for Figo diesel and launch of Chevrolet Sail in process, Maruti cannot stand there watching rivals do what they can to increase their presence in this segment.

Suzuki then began selling the new Splash (the car's name outside India) in Europe and the UK with revised exterior and AT option. This vehicle was expected to reach India during the festival season.

Though we don't know where revved_up spotted this vehicle and for which market this was meant for, we can certainly expect Maruti to introduce this vehicle in India as it hasn't been upgraded since its launch in the 2009.

The Ritz is built on the old Swift platform and it has taken a while for India to understand the car before it moved to the second spot in its segment. We expect to see the Ritz move up several notches when the next generation model is prepared using the new Swift's components.

We are certain that Maruti is mulling over a ZDI variant on the facelift with all safety and convenience features along with LPG and CNG fuel options.
