Maruti Wagon R Stingray demo car scooped
Ahead of the Maruti Wagon R Stingray's launch next week, demo vehicles have started filling up dealership stockyards. Our friends at Motorbeam have some photographs today to share of the vehicle as its sits there in the dark, waiting for its D-Day.
As our eyes have grown tired seeing the boxy proportions of the million Wagon Rs on the road, the quirky charm of the Stingray feels like a cold beer after a long day at work!
Reported as the "premium version of the Maruti Wagon R", the car will come in three variants - LXi, VXi and VXi option pack. The option pack specs the car with ABS, driver airbag, audio buttons on the steering wheel, outside mirrors that are electrically adjustable and projector headlights.
As we reported yesterday, our bet is on Maruti Suzuki pricing the Wagon R Stingray at about 50,000 rupees over the regular model which would mean that you'd have to spend between 4.1 to 4.9 lakh rupees to drive one home.
Both Wagon R versions don't differ on the mechanical character. They are powered by a 1-liter K Series petrol engine that puts out 68PS and 90Nm of torque. Both use the same five-speed manual transmission. The difference is the extra aggression on the Stingray, credits to the body work.
As Motorbeam points out, projector headlights are a first in segment feature. You also get a different grille and bumpers. The interior is lifted off the regular car but is finished in a glossy piano black color. A MID sits on the dashboard with a distance to empty readout.
The Maruti Wagon R Stingray counts on its styling to convince customers to cough up that extra 50k rupees.
