Mercedes-AMG GT launch in India confirmed for 2015 - IAB Report
Was launched last year globally.
Mercedes India's Managing Director & CEO, Eberhard Kern, has confirmed in a press release today that the Mercedes-AMG GT will be launched in India this year. With respect to production-spec models, the AMG GT is the tour de force of Mercedes' Skunkworks division, which will rival 2-door sports cars like the Porsche 911 and Jaguar F-Type.
Kern said -
With some of the most awaited products in the pipeline for the remaining two quarters, including the much awaited AMG GT, Mercedes-Benz is all set for another year of strong growth.
Filling the space left by the SLS AMG, the Mercedes-AMG GT features a new design that borrows inspiration from the Vision GranTurismo Concept. It rides on a shortened platform of the SLS AMG, but is made stiffer and lighter for better handling.
The AMG GT debut’s an all new 4.0-liter twin turbo V8, which is offered in two power tunes: a 456 bhp unit in the AMG GT and 503 bhp for the AMG GT S. Despite being a front-engined GT sports car, the engine's compact dimensions allowed engineers to push it as far back as possible, thus making it a front-mid engined beast.
Paired to the engine is a 7-speed dual clutch Gertrag unit (same gearbox in the Ferrari range as well), enabling the AMG GT and GT S to sprint from 0-100 km/h in 3.9- and 3.7 seconds respectively.
At launch, Mercedes could moot the Edition One variant first, which comes with exclusive visual touches and optional equipment over standard features like Nappa leather upholstery, a Burmester audio system, Keyless-Go, Parktronic and Collision Prevention Assist PLUS. Pricing is expected to hover around the INR 2 crores mark (ex-showroom).

They also achieved their best ever Q2 performance of selling 3,093 units, discussed in detail on the press release, attested below the gallery.
