Mercedes-Benz X-Class to be offered with many customisation parts - Report

Will be launched in Europe in late-2017.

Mercedes-Benz is taking its time to bring the Mercedes-Benz X-Class, its first pick-up truck, to the market, and besides development of vehicle, it's also spending time learning what pick-up truck buyers expect otherwise from their vehicle. A company official has told CarAdvice that the Mercedes-Benz X-Class will be available with many individualisation options as well as customisation parts.

The Mercedes-Benz X-Class will be based on the Nissan Navara's body-on-frame platform.

Besides lines, packages and options for individualsation, the company has planned a comprehensive portfolio of customisation parts as well for the X-Class, consisting of bed liners, bed covers, styling accessories and protection accessories, Dominik Amann, Head of Product Management for the Mercedes-Benz mid-size pick-up, said.

It is for the first time that the company has a dedicated project that has developed such an extensive range of customisation parts. Designed, engineered and tested in-house, these should make the Mercedes-Benz X-Class more personalised and suitable to an individual's practical needs.

The Mercedes-Benz X-Class' range-topping model will be powered by a V6 diesel engine.

The Mercedes X-Class will be launched in Europe in late-2017 as the fourth model of Mercedes-Benz Vans, and will have seating for up to five persons. Its range-topping model will be powered by a V6 diesel engine and will be equipped with the 4MATIC permanent all-wheel drive system.

The Mercedes X-Class will be built for Europe, Australia and South Africa by Nissan in Barcelona, Spain starting next year and for Latin America by Renault at in Cordoba, Argentina, starting in 2018.
