Mercedes C220 CDI, VW Jetta, Hyundai Verna, Porsche Targa, Skoda Superb, Renault Lodgy - IAB Retrospect

Automobile manufacturers are gearing up for the launches of their products this month, so fittingly, the IAB Retrospect is full of announcements.

1. Mercedes C220 CDI launch announced

Mercedes Benz India has announced that the new C Class's diesel powered version will be launched on February 11. The car was launched in November last year, but only in its petrol guise.

Expected to be priced at around INR 40 lakhs, the C220 CDI will be powered by a 2.2-litre diesel engine making 170 hp and 400 Nm of maximum torque. It will be brought via the CBU route, with local assembly expected to begin at a later stage.

2. 2015 Volkswagen Jetta and Hyundai Verna facelift bookings

Bookings for the facelifted VW Jetta have begun at dealer level. The new car will be launched on February 17, but the dealers have started bookings against a payment of INR 1 lakh. Changes on the facelift model include an updated front end with a new grille, bumper, a new alloy wheel design, and a set of refreshed taillamps. A new 3-spoke steering wheel and new dashboard trims should sum up the changes.

Hyundai India's dealers are also reported to have started accepting orders for the Hyundai Verna facelift. Booking amounts vary from INR 10,000 to INR 20,000 depending on the dealer, while Hyundai hasn't yet confirmed that. The facelifted model would get a new front fascia and redesigned bumpers.

3. Porsche 911 Targa launched

Porsche India has launched the 911 Targa in India with prices starting at INR 1.59 crore. It will only be available in the all-wheel drive Targa 4 and Targa 4S variants, which come with a 3.4-litre and 3.6-litre flat-six engines.

4. 2016 Skoda Superb interior

The 2016 Skoda Superb will be unveiled next month with a public debut scheduled for the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, but the Czech car maker has started to reveal the car bit by bit. Adding to the previous set of pictures are new shots that show the flagship sedan's interior.

Based on Volkswagen's MQB platform, the Superb will be larger but lighter than before. Engine options are likely to remain the same, but the dual-release boot will be replaced by a conventional hatch like seen on the Octavia.

5. Renault Lodgy on Renault India's website

Expected to be launched around April 2015, the Renault Lodgy has found its way to the Renault India website. The MPV based on the Duster platform will be available in both standard and Stepway versions when it goes on sale in India.

Boasting "best in segment performance" as claimed by Renault, the Lodgy would be powered by the 1.5-litre K9K diesel and could also be available with the 1.6-litre petrol unit, but final power figures aren't out yet.

Prices are expected to be in the INR 7-10 lakh region, while rivals for the Lodgy include the Maruti Ertiga, Chevrolet Enjoy, and Honda Mobilio.
