PT Mercedes-Benz Indonesia has showcased the Mercedes GLC at IIMS 2015 (Indonesia International Motor Show 2015) making it the car's global motorshow premiere.
The GLC is based on the C-Class’ rear-wheel drive MRA platform and will be offered in right-hand drive as well, unlike its predecessor, the GLK. Mercedes has stated that the new car will have more legroom, shoulder room, and 1,600 liters of luggage space which is 50 liters more than the outgoing model. Despite the dimensional increase, the car will be 19 per cent more fuel efficient.
At the world premiere of the new GLC, Mercedes said that the crossover will be initially offered in four variants - GLC 220d, GLC 250d, GLC 250 and the GLC 350e plug-in hybrid.
A range of 2.0-liter petrol and diesel engines will provide motive power to the new GLC. The base GLC 220d will deliver 170 bhp and 400 Nm of torque; the GLC 250d will generate 204 bhp and 500 Nm of torque.
The petrol-powered GLC 250 will churn out 211 bhp and 350 Nm while the GLC 350e plug-in hybrid makes 320 bhp with a fuel efficiency of 38.46 km/l and pure electric range of 34 kilometers. These engines will be connected to a 9G-Tronic auto gearbox with the exception of the hybrid that will be supplied with a 7G-Tronic automatic unit.
Mercedes’ 4MATIC all-wheel drive system will be standard on all variants and an optional AIRMATIC air suspension with an off-road pack will be extended.
The Indian launch of the vehicle is expected in mid 2016.
