Mercedes V-Class to be launched in India on 24 January

The Mercedes V-Class will hit the Indian market on 24 January 2019 as the brand’s first launch in the new year. The model was confirmed for the Indian market just earlier this month.

The Mercedes V-Class’ standard rear compartment features four individual seats, but there are options to fit it with one or two rows of three-seater benches.

The Mercedes V-Class is aimed at private and commercial customers internationally. In India, it should appeal mostly to high-end tour operators and luxury hotels. It is available in three lengths: compact (4,895 mm), long (5,140 mm) and extra-long (5,370 mm). There are three equipment lines to choose from: standard, Avantgarde and Exclusive.

In India, one can expect the Mercedes V-Class in the long version which comes in the top-of-the-line Exclusive grade. Some of its features are a large panoramic sliding roof, Agility Control suspension system (lowers ride height by 15 mm), Comand Online infotainment system, 19-inch alloy wheels, electric sliding doors, heated and ventilated passenger seats with lumbar support, thermal cup holders, and a centre console with a five-litre cooling compartment.

Mercedes-Benz India will likely offer the V-Class with the BSVI-compliant OM654 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine that produces 194 PS and 400 Nm of torque, in conjunction with an automatic transmission. This engine is already available in the facelifted Mercedes C-Class saloon and the first-ever Mercedes E-Class All-Terrain estate in our market. The company may not configure the van with the 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system.

The Mercedes V-Class seats up to eight people. Rear seats either face each other or are aligned in the driving direction, as per the customer order.

Mercedes-Benz India will import the V-Class via the CBU route from Spain, where production happens at the Vitoria plant. The company’s ultimate shuttle may cost around INR 75-80 lakh (ex-showroom).
