MINI John Cooper Works GP Concept showcased at the 2017 Dubai Motor Show
MINI’s highlight at the 2017 Dubai Motor Show was the MINI John Cooper Works GP Concept. The new concept car was originally unveiled at IAA 2017 in September.
The MINI John Cooper Works GP Concept is inspired by the company’s victories in the Monte Carlo Rally 50 years ago. It follows the 2012 MINI John Cooper Works GP and the 2006 MINI Cooper S with John Cooper Works GP Kit. The track-focused concept sports is painted in Black Jack Anthracite colour and has Curbside Red metallic accents.
Hexagonal radiator grille, headlights with Highspeed Orange accents, carbon-fibre front apron, carbon-fibre side skirts, 19-inch Racetrack lightweight wheels in multispoke design with GP logo, Highspeed Orange door handles, half-Union Jack on each of the rear lights, prominent roof spoiler, carbon fibre rear air vents, two rain lights and dual central twin tailpipes are the exterior highlights of the MINI John Cooper Works GP Concept.
The MINI John Cooper Works GP Concept features a stripped-down interior with track-inspired looks. MINI has equipped the concept with low-mounted bucket seats with five-point belts and taken out the rear seat bench, headliner and conventional door trim panels to reduce the weight. The surfaces between the elements of the roll cage and the rear compartment are trimmed in lightweight panels with textured details and a hexagonal pattern. Highspeed Orange shade is seen inside the car as well, in elements like the belt straps, inscriptions and the stitching of the steering wheel and seats. It complements the Curbside Red metallic accents on the selected functional components.
MINI has not announced any plans for putting the MINI John Cooper Works GP Concept into production.
