Mitsubishi Attrage sedan revealed - Watch out Nissan Sunny!
Mitsubishi has just released the official details of the new Mitsubishi Attrage sedan which the company calls as the 'Global Compact Sedan'. The Attrage will be launched in Thailand next month where it will participate in the Thai Eco Car Project, thereby being eligible for subsidies.
For a car to qualify the Thai Eco Car Project, it must have a fuel efficiency figure of at least 20 km/l as per the European norms and it should also meet Euro 4 regulations. The Attrage will, according to Mitsubishi, achieve 22 km/l.
The main reason for its excellent fuel efficiency is because of the RISE (Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution) body which the Japanese claim will set a benchmark for lightness in its class. It uses a lot of high tensile steel for its construction as a result.
Another reason may be because the Attrage has an aerodynamic body with the drag coefficient rated at only 0.29.
The Attrage sedan is based on the Mitsubishi Mirage hatchback. It will rival cars such as the Nissan Sunny and the Hyundai Verna. It will be positioned as a city car mainly, thanks to its light turning radius of 4.8 meters.
Under the hood, the Attrage uses the same 1.2-liter three-cylinder MIVEC engine as the Mirage hatch. It produces 76bhp of power and 100Nm of torque. A 5-speed manual or a CVT automatic gearbox are the available transmission options.
The Attrage will be made at the Laem Chabang Industrial Estate in Chonburi province in Thailand.
