Mitsubishi Pajero (Mitsubishi Montero) life extended with yet another minor update
While a decision on the next-gen Mitsubishi Pajero (Mitsubishi Montero) is awaited, Mitsubishi has decided to extend the current model's life with yet another minor update. In China, Mitsubishi will introduce the new 2018 Mitsubishi Pajero at the Chengdu Auto Show on 25 August 2017, says a report from PCauto.com.cn.
The 2018 Mitsubishi Pajero will get minor changes on the outside. Exterior revisions include golden "PAJERO" lettering on the bonnet, new red/grey body graphics on the sides and what looks like an emblem celebrating the company's 100th anniversary. The Chinese report suggests that there are 18 changes on the inside. One of these is a 9-inch infotainment system with navigation and internet connectivity replacing the 7-inch unit.
The current Mitsubishi Pajero has the 6G72 3.0-litre V6 engine as standard. This naturally aspirated mill produces 174 PS at 5,250 rpm and 255 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. A 5-speed automatic transmission routes power to the wheels. A four-wheel drive system is present to distribute the power between the wheels appropriately. This configuration will continue for MY2018, as per the report.
The current Pajero's prices range from CNY3,69,800-4,29,800 (INR 35,57,819.13-41,35,074.81) in the Chinese market. While there's no official confirmation, it seems like the minor refresh is just for China.

It was said that the next-gen Mitsubishi Pajero might ride on the same platform as the next-gen Nissan Patrol. However, Trevor Mann, CTO, Mitsubishi, has ruled out that possibility.
