Mitsubishi Xpander MPV to be launched in Thailand by August this year

After going on sale in Indonesia last year, the Mitsubishi Xpander reached the Philippines this month. Soon, its availability will expand to Thailand, as per a report from Autodeft. It was unveiled at GIIAS 2017 in August last year.

The Mitsubishi Xpander was spotted undergoing local testing in Thailand in November last year.

Spy shots captured during local testing in November last year had all but confirmed the eventual launch of the Mitsubishi Xpander in Thailand. Official confirmation came through earlier this year. The report says that the launch will take place in July or August 2018.

The Mitsubishi Xpander is a small MPV with an SUV-inspired design. It rivals the likes of Toyota Rush, Daihatsu Terios, and Honda BR-V. Its competition includes the Suzuki Ertiga (Maruti Ertiga) as well. The tough-looking MPV offers seats for seven people in 2+3+2 layout.

The Mitsubishi Xpander is 4,475 mm long, 1,750 mm wide and 1,695 mm/1,700 mm high. Its wheelbase spans a length of 2,775 mm. Depending on the configuration, the ground clearance is either 200 mm or 205 mm. The 4A91 1.5-litre MIVEC petrol engine is standard in both the markets. The naturally aspirated four-cylinder mill delivers 105 PS at 6,000 rpm and 141 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. A 5-speed manual transmission or a 4-speed automatic transmission sends power to the front wheels.

'Dynamic Shield' language inspired fascias, two-tier headlamps, 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels and L-shaped LED tail lamps are the Mitsubishi Xpander's design highlights. Comfort and convenience include passive keyless entry, engine start-stop button, tilt and telescopic steering, 2-DIN 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with GPS navigation, roof-mounted rear AC vents, cruise control and a 12-volt power outlet in all three rows.

On the safety front, the Mitsubishi Xpander gets dual-front airbags, ABS with EBD, Active Stability Control (ASC), Traction Control System (TCS), Hill Start Assist (HSA), parking sensors and reverse camera.

The Xpander competes with the likes of Toyota Rush, Daihatsu Terios, Suzuki Ertiga, and Honda BR-V.
