India Kawasaki Motors has launched the MY19 KLX140G. For 2019, there are no changes in the technical aspects and the alteration is in the graphics of the bike. The KLX140G of 2019 will be available for INR 4,06,600 (ex-showroom Delhi). Booking and delivery related information is available at the Kawasaki dealership across the country.

The Kawasaki KLX140G comes to India via the CBU route and thus commands a premium price tag. The motorcycle is track spec and cannot be used on public roads.

The motorcycle uses a 144cc 4-stroke, single cylinder, SOHC, air-cooled engine with 58.0mm and 54.4mm bore and stroke respectively. It is claimed to provide strong torque that is said to be ideal for learning riders. Full-size wheels help give more ground clearance on the trail and offer a taller seat height and roomy open ergonomics for taller riders. The five-speed gearbox with a manual clutch is said to allow smooth and easy engagement.

33mm telescopic forks perform suspension duties at the front with 7.5-inch wheel travel. At the rear is a Uni-Trak linkage system and single shock with piggyback reservoir, featuring fully adjustable preload and 22-way rebound damping. The rear suspension gets 7.9-inch wheel travel.

Speaking on the launch, Yutaka Yamashita, Managing Director of India Kawasaki Motors, said:

Kawasaki has legendary history of dirt bikes. The KLX140G is ideal for every beginner who is willing to gain experience of trail riding. The beginners normally are adults and big youth of all sizes. Yet, the lightweight KLX140G is a comfortable fit to suit a wide variety of off-roaders. Besides, India has suitable landscape for dirt bikes. Therefore, I am sure that the KLX140G will have excellent success in India.

Previously, Kawasaki had introduced the 2019 KX250 (INR 7,43,000), KX450 (INR 7,79,000) and KLX450R (INR 8,49,000) in the Indian market - all prices are ex-showroom Delhi. The whole KX and KLX range is track-specific and cannot be used on public roads. Thus, you would not get street bike bits like a headlight, tail light, blinkers and rear-view mirrors on the KX and KLX model range. Removing the parts helps the trail motorcycles shed crucial weight for a healthy power-to-weight ratio.

The new motocross range from Kawasaki will compete against the Suzuki RM-Z250 and RM-Z450 in India that were launched in India at INR 7.1 lakh and INR 8.31 lakh respectively (both, ex-showroom Delhi).

The 144 cc engine is tuned to deliver strong torque in a way ideal for learning riders.
