In a surprising update, Bajaj Auto has unveiled the new Pulsar NS125. This update comes as a surprise as Rajiv Bajaj, managing director of Bajaj Auto, had confirmed in an interview that the Pulsar 125 is an unattractive proposition. Below were Bajaj's words:

People would love to have a 125cc Pulsar, but for us it won’t be very attractive. So we must create different brands in that space.

Bajaj Pulsar NS125 features Pulsar LS 135 inspired styling. The hardware list is standard and you'd see conventional suspension setup and a disc brake at the front.

After confirming that a 125cc Pulsar is not in the making, Bajaj further added that the company is working on a new motorcycle brand for the 125cc segment.

So can we expect this motorcycle to arrive in India or is it reserved only for exports? Bajaj Auto has had a tough time in the 125 cc motorcycle segment with tumbling sales of the Discover brand and lacklustre performance by the V12. Bringing back the Pulsar 135LS can be a costly affair as the motorcycle would require featuring ABS post-April 2019 to comply with the safety norms. The Pulsar NS125 can get away with a combi-braking system (CBS) that is cheaper than the ABS.

The motorcycle draws styling cues from the Pulsar 135 LS. Thus, you can spot a sharp design for the headlight, accompanied by dual tone mask and a windscreen on top. Behind the windscreen is a semi-digital instrument console – featuring an analogue tachometer and a digital display. The console gets a carbon-fibre texture that adds a sporty look to the cockpit.

The fuel tank gets a dual tone finish and a beefy look with the addition of shrouds. Following the fuel tank, unlike on the 135 LS, is a split seat setup and a two-piece pillion grab bar that look premium and remind of the units on the bigger NS series motorcycles.

Hardware list is basic and thus you would spot a conventional telescopic fork at the front and twin-sided Nitrox shock absorber at the rear. Stopping power is provided by a 240 mm single disc brake at the front and 130 mm drum unit at the rear.

Bajaj Pulsar NS125 is available in four colour options - Black, Red, White and Yellow.

Tech specs include a 124.45 cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder, DTS-i, fuel injected engine that delivers 12 PS of maximum power at 8,500 rpm and 11 Nm of peak torque at 6,000 rpm. The engine is mated to a 5-speed gearbox.

The Bajaj Pulsar NS125 is available in four colour options - Black, Red, White and Yellow. It costs PLN 7,999 (INR 1.58 lakh).
