The BS-VI Honda SP 125 will be available in two variants – Drum and Disc – and four colours (Mat Axis Grey Metallic, Striking Green, Imperial Red Metallic and Pearl Siren Blue). The drum brake version is priced at INR 72,900*. The disc brake-equipped model will be available at INR 77,100*.

Styling cues include a LED headlight with a body-coloured mask and conventional and clear screen blinkers at the front. The front fascia is followed by a full digital display in the cockpit. Apart from the regular ride-related information, the instrument console displays average fuel economy, real-time fuel economy, distance to empty, gear position indicator, Eco indicator and a service due indicator. The display also includes an On-Board Diagnostic light.

The fuel tank shrouds and the edgy graphics will appeal to the young buyers in the segment. The shrouds add a muscular look to the package. The 3D Honda logo in a chrome finish adds a premium touch to the styling. The side panel uses the same paint as the fuel tank, while the rear panel gets a contrasting shade. A single-piece, almost flat saddle follows the tank. The single-piece pillion grab rail adds a subtle finish to the back of the motorcycle. A chrome finish muffler further enhances the premium appeal of the SP 125. The bike rides on HET tubeless tyres that are wrapped in 5-spoke split alloy wheels and claim to deliver Low Rolling Resistance.

Mechanical specifications include a Bharat Stage VI compliant 125 cc single-cylinder, air-cooled, Programmed Fuel Injection (PGM-FI) HET (Honda Eco Technology) engine with Enhanced Smart Power (eSP). Paired with a five-speed transmission, the single-cylinder motor pumps out 8 kW or 10.88 PS of peak power at 7,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 10.9 Nm at 6,000 rpm.

The eSP technology is claimed to optimise performance by reducing friction, enable silent start and provide a smooth eco-friendly ride. The first-in-segment ACG starter promises quiet start to the motorcycle. The system starts the motor jolt free through the same AC generator used to generate current and charge the battery. The system eliminates the need for a conventional starter motor.

The new motorcycle also uses PGM-FI tech that features eight onboard sensors to constantly inject optimum fuel and air mixture. The system aims to deliver consistent power output, high fuel efficiency and fewer emissions. Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India claim a 16% improvement in the fuel efficiency over its predecessor.

Shock absorption department comprises a five-step adjustable rear suspension and conventional telescopic forks at the front. Stopping power comes from drum brakes 130 mm on both ends) on the base model, while the premium version packs a 240 mm disc brake at the front. The safety net comprises a Combi-Brake System (CBS) with equalizer.

The BS-VI Honda SP 125 is priced at INR 72,900 (drum) and INR 77,100 (disc).
