New Isuzu MU-X (facelift) spotted in India for the first time
Isuzu Motors India has started testing the new Isuzu MU-X, spy shots published by GaadiWaadi have revealed. The facelifted model was introduced internationally in February 2017, just two months before the old model saw its introduction in India.
The new Isuzu MU-X will have minor design changes. At the front, the facelifted model will have a new upper grille, revised bumper and LED headlamps with integrated LED DRLs. On the sides, the updated model will likely sport new 18-inch double-spoke alloy wheels. As for the rear-end, main changes will include tweaked tail lamps with LED light guide and a revised bumper.
Moving to the interior, Isuzu will likely refresh the cabin with new wood trim and bright beige upholstery and enhance the connectivity and entertainment aspects with the 8-inch iConnect touchscreen infotainment system with built-in navigation. No mechanical changes were brought to the mid-size SUV with its mid-life update internationally.
The 3.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine that produces 130 kW (177 PS) at 3,600 rpm and 380 Nm of torque at 1,800-2,800 rpm would continue as is. Isuzu may keep the standard 5-speed automatic transmission and the optional part-time 4WD system in the refresh. In other markets, a smaller 1.9-litre diesel engine that delivers 150 PS at 3,600 rpm and 350 Nm of torque at 1,800-2,600 rpm is available, but given the segment and the high-spec competitors from Toyota and Ford, it's unlikely to make it to India.

The facelifted Isuzu MU-X could go on sale in India during the festive season, in the fourth quarter this year. At the same time, another competitor, the Mahindra Rexton, will arrive on the scene. Like now, the starting price of the MU-X may remain around INR 25 lakh (ex-showroom).
