According to a report by French Publication Challenges, the fifth generation Renault Clio will arrive in the first quarter of 2019. The Renault Clio 5 will debut the Renault-Nissan Alliance's CMF-B small car platform.

The fifth generation Clio will mark the debut of Renault-Nissan's CMF-B small car platform.

The 2019 Clio could borrow design cues from the Renault Symbioz concept from IAA 2017. While the fifth generation Clio will have an evolutionary exterior design, Laurens van den Acker, Renault’s Senior Vice President of corporate design, has promised a revolutionary interior.

Currently, Renault offers the Clio with 1.2 L naturally aspirated petrol, 0.9 L turbocharged petrol, 1.2 L turbocharged petrol and 1.5 L turbocharged diesel engines. There’s also an R.S. variant sporting a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine in two states of tune - standard model with 200 hp maximum output and Trophy model with 220 hp maximum output. According to the report, the diesel variant could be dropped in favour of a petrol-hybrid model.

The majority of the production, around 72%, of the next-gen Renault Clio will take place at the company's plant in Bursa, Turkey. Renault's plant in Flins, France, may shift its focus towards the production of hybrids and EVs.

The Clio is one of the bestsellers for Renault. The company sold around 441,000 units of the hatchback globally last year and will be hoping for similar, if not better, volumes from the fifth-generation model. The current fourth-generation Renault Clio is priced from € 14,100 in France. Expect the next generation model to carry a similar price tag when it goes on sale next year.
