Nissan Navara-based SUV tries on its production body
The Toyota Fortuner rival goes on sale in Australia in 2017.
Car Advice has posted new spyshots of the Nissan Navara-based SUV, featuring a full body wrap that covers up the production-spec exterior.
The front fascia borrows cues from the Nissan Navara NP300, although it appears to be slightly tweaked for a distinct look. Compared to previous test mules, the design lines are rounded and similar to the latest crop of Nissan SUVs. The name hasn't been confirmed yet; it could either be a successor to the off-road oriented Nissan X-Terra, introduced to the world as a brand new body-on-frame SUV, or sold as part of the Navara range.
Powering the Navara SUV could be the new 2.5 litre YD25DDTi four-cylinder turbodiesel engine from the pickup, which is capable of 190 PS at 3,600 rpm and 450 Nm of torque at 2,000 rpm. It is available with a 6-speed manual or 7-speed automatic gearbox and in two- or four-wheel drive configurations.

The Nissan Navara SUV variant will rival popular ladder frame SUVs like the Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour, Isuzu MU-X and Chevrolet Trailblazer, all of which are derivatives of their respective pick-up sibling.
