Based on the third generation Nissan X-Trail the Nissan X-Trail Hybrid made its Indian debut at Auto Expo 2016. The company announced that the Hybrid vehicle will be the one of the two all-new products to be launched in 2016.

The hybrid system sends power to the wheels via XTRONIC continuously variable transmission. The hybrid variant's fuel economy is rated at 20.6 km/l (JC08 mode) for front-wheel drive drivetrain layout and at 20.0 km/l (JC08 mode) for all-wheel drive drivertrain layout.
