2016 Honda Pilot mass production commences - USA
The car loses 136 kg, and claims to offer best-in-class interior space.
Honda have announced that the all new 2016 Honda Pilot has entered mass production at its factory in Alabama, U.S. Three generations of the Honda Pilot SUV have been designed and developed by the North American arm of the Japanese brand, and the latest model is no different.
The Honda Pilot features a new design that is more curvy and dynamic than before. It falls inline with Honda's latest design language, and gives an impression of a large cabin, speaking of which, Honda claims that the Pilot offers "best-in-class interior" space as well as class leading safety features.
The new Pilot will pack a 3.5-liter V6 engine producing 280 bhp at 6,000 rpm and 355 Nm of torque at 4,700 rpm. Power is sent through a choice between a smaller 6-speed AT or a 9-speed AT to an optional AWD system. It will be more efficient, given the weight loss and fuel-saving tech such as cylinder deactivation and automatic stop/start.

The 2016 Honda Pilot will arrive at dealerships this summer, and prices are expected to be announced when launched in the market. The Pilot, as reported earlier, will not be introduced to India. Instead, Honda Cars India is reportedly planning a compact SUV based on the Brio’s platform. Currently, the only SUV in their lineup is the Honda CR-V, which here is still waiting for its facelift.
