The Peugeot 208 GTi 30th Anniversary Limited Edition celebrated 30 years of the automaker's GTi performance line by blasting through the 2014 Goodwood FOS Hill Climb. The 205 GTi which was launched in 1984 was the brand's first model of its kind.

The Peugeot 208 GTi 30th Anniversary Edition is finished in a dual tone color theme and outputs exactly 208 hp.

The Anniversary edition 208 GTi comes with certain special enhancements such as optional dual tone color theme with Textured Black at the front and Ruby Red at the rear, separated by a line that Peugeot likes to call as 'coupe franche'. The chrome finishers of the regular car have been replaced by matte black elements and the treatment is extended to the side skirts, wheel arch extensions and window line trim. The quarter glass panel carries the '208 GTi' logo and the twin exhausts are finished in chrome.

Inside, the red and black combination is retained with red carpets, black sport seats with Alcantra inserts and red stitching. A numbered plate marked ‘208 GTi 30th' is fixed above the courtesy lamp.

Sales of the '208 GTi 30th' will commence in November 2014.

The 208 GTi Anniversary Limited Edition is powered by the same 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine as the standard car but the power output increased by 8 hp to arrive at a symbolic figure of 208 hp. The six-speed manual gearbox gets revised ratios and sends power via a Torsen differential. The little performance hatchback can dispatch the 0-100 km/h sprint in 6.5 seconds (0.3 seconds quicker than the regular 208 GTi).

Peugeot has lowered the car by 10 mm and widened the front and rear track by 22 mm and 16 mm respectively. A larger set of alloy wheels further enhance the overall dynamics. The suspension, steering and electronic aids are tuned to offer a racing-inspired drive experience, says Peugeot.

The Peugeot 208 GTi 30th Anniversary Edition will be showcased at the Paris Motor Show in October before going on sale in November 2014. The company hasn't revealed the number of cars it intends to build.
