India-bound BMW X7 (production model) leaked in patent images
The production BMW X7 has leaked online in patent images published by ALL THE CARS. The upcoming flagship BMW SAV is likely to make its world debut at the 2018 LA Auto Show in November.
The production BMW X7 looks very similar to the rendering IAB presented last year. As expected, the road-ready version is close to the concept. At the front, BMW's biggest production SUV features larger headlamps, a smaller kidney grille and outer air inlets and a revised bumper. On the sides, there are conventional mirrors and door handles. Changes to the rear-end include a less sculpted tailgate, deletion of air outlets on the outer ends, revised bumper and tweaked tail lamps that are no longer connected via a light strip. Up top, instead of an all-glass roof, there’s a dual-pane panoramic sunroof.
The BMW X7 will ride on the CLAR rear-wheel-drive platform. To keep the mammoth SUV’s weight as low as possible, BMW will likely use a combination of carbon-fibre, aluminium, magnesium and highly rigid steel in its structure.
Leaked data reveals that BMW will sell it in xDrive30i, xDrive30d, xDrive40i, xDrive40d, xDrive50i and xDrive50d engine models with an automatic transmission and an AWD system as standard. This means that not just 3.0- and 4.4-litre engines, but 2.0-litre engines also are included in the variant plan. Options will include a sporty version with a 610 PS 6.6-litre V12 engine and a plug-in hybrid variant with a powertrain comprising a 2.0-litre petrol engine and an electric motor as well. We don't expect these variants at launch, though.

The BMW X7 will enter production at the Spartanburg plant (USA) in late 2018. The Mercedes GLS rivalling full-size SUV could reach Indian dealer showrooms sometime in the second half of 2019.
