Proton Iriz EV with 300km range showcased in Malaysia - Report
Could see production in 2017.
At the ongoing 2015 International Greentech & Eco Products Exhibition and Conference Malaysia (IGEM), Proton is showcasing the Iriz EV prototype, which it first showed in South Korea last October.
According to several reports, the Iriz EV could see the light of day towards 2017, as Malaysia Automotive Institute says the country will produce two electric vehicles by 2017. If launched, the Iriz EV is expected to cost under 100,000 RM (INR 15.4 lakhs).
Speaking about the Iriz EV, it features a permanent magnet AC synchronous motor churning 155 hp and 360 Nm of torque. This enables for a 0-100 km/h dash in under 9 seconds and a top-speed of 150 km/h. The battery gets its power from a 39.6 kWh lithium-ion polymer battery with a 50 kW fast charging system or a 6.6 kW normal charging system.
Using a fast charger, it takes only 15 minutes to charge the battery to full from 40 percent; the same takes 4 hours with a public charger and 7 hours with a standard three-pin point. The Iriz EV has an NEDC-based range of 300 km, beating the Nissan Leaf's 200 km range.

There is no intrusion to the passenger or luggage compartment as the battery is mounted under the floor. At 1,380 kg, the Iriz EV is only 195 kg heavier than a standard gasoline-powered Iriz with a CVT.
