Retro-style Yamaha XSR155 officially unveiled [Video]
Yamaha has taken the wraps off the XSR155, an entry-level retro-style motorcycle. The XSR155 joins the YZF-R15 V3.0 and the new MT-15 in the company's popular 155 cc segment.

Under the retro-styling of the XSR155 is the tried and tested hardware that underpins the YZF-R15 V3.0 and the MT-15. Thus, the retro-style product from the Japanese two-wheeler brand uses the Deltabox frame. Hardware specifications, similar to its international-spec siblings, include inverted telescopic forks at the front and a monoshock at the back. Anchoring department comprises disc brakes on both wheels.
The Yamaha XSR155 mounts a 155 cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder, 4-valve motor with Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) technology. The performance numbers were not listed on Yamaha Thailand’s website, but we do not expect the power and torque output to be any different from the YZF-R15 V3.0 and the MT-15. Thus, the engine should deliver 19.3 PS at 10,000 rpm and 14.7 Nm at 8,500 rpm. The six-speed gearbox benefits from a slipper and an assist clutch system.
At 10-litres, the fuel tank capacity is equal to that of the MT-15 and about a litre less than that of the YZF-R15 V3.0. The XSR900-inspired styling brings a circular headlight to the front fascia. Similar to the YZF-R15 V3.0 and the MT-15, the XSR155 uses a LED headlamp.
The retro-style cockpit features a circular instrument console. Apart from the regular information such as tachometer, speedometer, odometer, trip meters and the fuel gauge, the compact LCD screen shows a gear position indicator. The telltale indicators occupy the lower part of the console.
Following the cockpit is a dual-tone fuel tank that also houses the ignition keyhole. The top part of the tank comprises a contrasting finish and an aircraft-style fuel filler cap. The tan leather seat cover (on Silver colour option only) with a ribbed pattern give a more retro look to the new motorcycle. The single-piece, flat-style layout of the saddle gives the XSR155 a perfect old-school persona. The back section is finished with a spherical tail light that sits right behind the seat. The rear fender houses clear screen blinkers and a number plate illuminator. A subtle engine cowl adds a premium touch to the package. The heat shield on the exhaust too has a unique look.

The Indian-spec Yamaha XSR155, like the Indian-spec Yamaha MT-15, will use conventional front forks and a different swingarm and alloy wheel design compared to the Thai-spec model.
