Retro-styled Yamaha XSR155 codenamed B1V, to be unveiled on 16 August - Report
The Yamaha XSR155 is closer to reality than you think. A new report from TMC Blog says that the neo-retro styled motorcycle is codenamed B1V and that it will be launched first in Thailand, on 16 August 16 2019.
Along with a retro-styled circular LED headlamp, the Yamaha XSR 155 will bear circular all-digital instrumentation. This cluster will be placed in the middle of the handlebar unlike the side-mounted unit seen in the XSR 700. A teardrop tank will bear the familiar XSR 700-inspired looks.
The Yamaha XSR155 is reported to be shod with 17-inch wheels at both ends. The front-wheel will be shod with a 110/70 section rubber up front and a 140/70 section unit in the rear. Besides that, the swingarm will be the same cast aluminium unit seen in the Yamaha R15 v3.0 and the Indonesian-spec MT-15. The suspension setup will include an identical upside-down fork in the front and a monoshock in the rear with adjustable preload.
The powerplant in the Yamaha XSR155 will be the tried and tested 155 cc single-cylinder, 4-valve, SOHC mill. In its present tune, it engine produces 19.3 PS of power and 14.7 Nm of torque. The 6-speed gearbox is assisted by a slipper clutch. Besides that, Variable Valve Actuation technology will be helping in offering ideal amounts of power across all engine speeds. Hopefully, Yamaha engineers will tune the engine to get more performance at low and mid-engine revs.

Braking duties will be overseen by disc brakes at both ends, while dual-channel ABS will be optional. The seat will be a single flat unit with a belt in the middle. Besides that, the tail lamp will also draw design inspiration from the XSR700 and XSR900.
After being launched in Thailand, the Yamaha XSR155 will be pitted against the Honda CB150 Streetster in Indonesia. Yamaha India has been very tight-lipped about its future products. However, we would not be surprised if they display an India-centric version of the bike at Auto Expo 2020.
