The original Continental GT cafe-racer was introduced in 1965, and its resurrection was mooted by the company at the 2010 Auto Expo where it showcased a concept. Royal Enfield says that the Continental GT depicts the cafe-racer culture from Britain in the 1960s where stripped down bikes received custom-made parts for street racing in short stretches. The currently sold version was developed with UK-based forms Harris Engineering and Xenophya designs.
