Save up to INR 75,000 on a new Mahindra Mojo UT300 this week - Report

The Mahindra Mojo brand is nowhere close to the targets that the company had expected. Last month, Mahindra sold just 21 units of the Mojo.

The Mahindra UT300 is being offered at discounts of up to INR 75,000, bringing the prices down by almost 50 per cent. The reduced prices are valid until March 31.

With an aim to boost the sales, Mahindra has reportedly announced a massive discount of INR 75,000 on the UT300 variant of the Mojo brand. The reduced prices would be available across all Mahindra dealerships in the country although the offer is valid for a very limited time. The offer is valid on Mahindra Mojo UT300 manufactured in the year 2018 and purchased before March 31. It should be noted that Mahindra did not introduce the safety net of ABS on the Mojo UT300 - a feature that would mandatory on all two-wheelers above 125 cc from April 1, 2019 - and this could be an exercise to clear the stock.

The motorcycle gets a flat INR 40,000 discount while exchanging your old two-wheeler would save you another INR 20,000 - bringing the price down by INR 60,000. Mahindra employees could avail the flat discount of INR 75,000 on the Mojo UT300.

The Mojo UT300 was launched in India at an introductory ex-showroom price of INR 1.39 lakh in March last year. A month later, the bike was sold at INR 1.49 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). With the discounts, the Mojo UT300 could be purchased for almost half of the ex-showroom price.

The UT model received a few changes to bring down the prices. The front forks, for example, were replaced to traditional shock absorbers with fork brace for additional stability. The rear featured a gas-charged off-set monoshock. The UT model retained the twin-pod headlamps and analogue-digital combo cluster although it missed the LED DRLs. Unlike the premium XT300 model, the UT300 came with a single exhaust outlet.

The brand also replaced the premium Pirelli tyres for more affordable MRF Nylogrip Zappers measuring 110/70 - 17 at the front and 140/70 - 17 at the rear. Stopping power comes from a 320 mm disc in the front and a 240 mm disc at the back.

The Mahindra Mojo UT300 did not receive the safety net of ABS, and the current discount could be an exercise to clear the stock before the new norms come into effect from April 1.

Mechanical specifications include a 294.72 cc single cylinder, liquid cooled, DOHC engine with a carburettor that churns out 23.1 PS of power at 7,500 rpm and 25.2 Nm of torque at 5,500 rpm. The engine pairs with a 6-speed transmission. In comparison, the fuel-injection powered Mojo XT300 makes 4 PS and 4.8 Nm more than the UT variant. The bike is available in Volcano Red and Ocean Blue colours.
