Skoda Scala Scout - IAB Rendering
As have other Skoda products in recent years, the Skoda Scala is likely to receive a Scout variant with a distinctive off-road appearance in Europe. IAB’s illustrator has depicted this variant in a rendering.
The Scala Scout would carry certain uniquely designed exterior elements to emphasise the fact that it’s one of Skoda’s adventure models. The packet may include black plastic cladding, silver underbody protection, aluminium-effect wing-mirror housings, silver roof rails and anthracite alloy wheels. Inside, the Scout variant may justify the higher asking price with door sills bearing Scout lettering, and Scout branding on the seat covers, steering wheel and gearshift knob, all finished in more expressive colours.
In addition to a more rugged exterior styling, the Scala Scout may offer a higher ground clearance and a better approach angle and departure angle for enhanced rough road/off-road capabilities. Out of the five engines, the 1.5-litre TSI petrol (150 PS/250 Nm) and 1.6-litre TDI diesel (115 PS/250 Nm) may service this variant. In that case, customers would get to select between a 6-speed MT and a 7-speed DSG.
Skoda offers an all-wheel drive system and the XDS+ electronic differential lock in Scout variants, but it's unknown if there is a place for these traction and safety aids in the MQB A0 product.

Skoda expects to put the Scala in European showrooms as early as in the first half of 2019. The Scout variant, if planned, may follow in 2020. In India, the standard variant could arrive, but not before 2022.
