Skoda Superb global production reaches 1 million units

Skoda Auto has announced that it has rolled out the one millionth unit of the Skoda Superb, the company's flagship saloon. The executive saloon was launched in 2001 and is currently in its third generation.
The third generation Skoda Superb was launched in March 2015. Skoda has built 2,50,000 units of the new generation model within the two-year timeframe.
The one millionth unit produced at the Kvasiny plant in Czech Republic was a top-of-the-range Laurin & Klement grade. The Skoda Superb is currently available in hatchback and estate versions, in three variants: standard, GreenLine and SportLine.
The third generation Skoda Superb is underpinned by parent company Volkswagen Group's MQB platform and is 75 kg lighter than the previous generation model. It's also the first Skoda featuring adaptive dampers, which the driver can adjust in multiple drive modes depending on the prevailing road condition and the driving style required. Other highlights include bi-xenon headlights with LED daytime running lights, heated washer jets, LED tail lights, three-zone air conditioning, heated seats, wireless heated windscreen, electric tailgate, electric parking brake, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with 3D navigation and Canton Sound System.

The Skoda Superb measures 4,861 mm in length, 1,864 mm in width and 1,468 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,841 mm. It's available with TSI and TDI diesel engine ranging from 1.4-litre to 2.0-litre in displacement and from 88 kW (120 hp) to 206 kW (280 hp) in power output. Transmission choices include 6-speed manual, 6-speed dual-clutch automatic and 7-speed dual-clutch automatic. An all-wheel drive system is optional.
