Skoda Superb Sportline teased, likely to launch next month
Following the introduction of the Superb Corporate Edition on 24 August 2018, Skoda Auto India will soon launch another variant of its premium sedan. Dubbed as the Skoda Superb Sportline, the new model has been listed on the company's official website with a ''coming soon'' tag.
Internationally, while RS variants have been the performance-focussed iterations, Sportline trims are more focused on giving a sporty touch to the aesthetics.
Details of the India-spec Skoda Superb Sportline are yet to be announced but expect no mechanical benefits.
Globally, the sportier-looking variant of the company's flagship sedan features a sports-tuned chassis and a 15 mm lower ride height. New styling elements include an updated grille in gloss black finish, black trim around the Day Light Opening (DLO), black ORVM housings, a rear spoiler, and black side strips.
Other updates include sporty 18-inch (standard)/19-inch (optional) alloy wheels, sporty muffler-cutters, and the 'SportLine' badges on the front fenders. On the inside, the Skoda Superb Sportline features sports seats, aluminium sports pedals, and a leather-wrapped sports steering wheel. The infotainment unit offers a LapTimer feature.
In India, the Skoda Superb has been on sale in two engine variants - 1.8-litre TSI petrol and 2.0-litre TDI diesel. Transmission options for the petrol engine option include a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission. The powerplant produces a maximum power of 180 PS. The oil-burner comes mated to a 6-speed DSG automatic transmission and delivers a peak power of 170 PS.

The Skoda Superb has a monthly sales average of 127 units (March 2018 - August 2018). The launch of the Sportline at the high-end, along with the recently introduced Corporate Edition at the low-end, should help the Superb find more takers during this year's festive season.
