Spied - 2012 Honda CR-V

Honda's next generation CR-V (2012 CR-V) has been caught testing in China. The CR-V is China's best selling SUV and these spyshots, though blurry and reveal less, has sparked a flurry of interest in the Chinese media.

Honda's CR-V is a runaway hit in China with sales surpassing 10,000 units a month and often breaking the 12k mark during strong months. In India, monthly sales of the CR-V is in double digits. It is strange considering that segment is growing at a cheetah's pace and has caught the attention of many overseas brands. The Audi Q3, Renault Koleos and refreshed Fortuner will further exploit the growth next year.

China Car Times writes that the new CR-V would be revealed during the Guangzhou Auto Show that takes place between November 22-28. We've shown you a clearer snap of this CR-V revealing a similar daylight opening. The tail lamps seem like the Volvo XC60 design team were behind it.

Due to slightly extended overhang some suspected of a third row seating. There's nothing secretive about the vehicle as Honda has started talking about the new CR-V on Honda America website.

According to Japanese media reports, the new CR-V (codenamed 2WS) arrives with a similar 4-cylinder petrol engine producing 180–220 hp. Marginally smaller it will thereby score better in fuel economy.

We have to wait till mid-2012 before seeing the new CR-V in India. There is no sign of a diesel engine as websites are reporting instead of a hybrid variant in development for Japanese and American markets.
